Finally an update on Lady - 1/27/2012 - Lady had another titer test and this time it is low enough for her to have her cataract surgery.  It has been scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6th.

Dec 29th - Lady's cataract has been postponed.  Dr. Jurk just came back from vacation and called and said that Lady's titer has not dropped low enough to do the surgery on her yet.
So, she's on antibiotics for a while longer and then we will run another titer.

Update Dec. 23rd - Lady's Titer test came back and the numbers have dropped, so we have scheduled her to have her cataract surgery on Monday, Jan. 2nd.
We still need donations for her surgery, any amount helps.
Happy Holidays!

Update Dec. 20th - Lady has finished her antibiotics for Lyme.
I took her to the Vet yesterday for her Titer test and we should have the results in a few days.  If the Titer has dropped, she will be able to have her surgery.

update - Dec 1 - Lady's titer came back positive for an active infection of Lymes.  She will finish her 30 days of antibiotics and then do another titer test again to make sure it has cleared up.  Lady is really starting to open up now, playing with toys and with the other dogs.  Everyone that meets her says how sweet she is.

Update - Nov. 28th - Lady's cataract surgery has been postponed for about a month.  Dr. Jurk's office called and asked us to do a Titer on Lady's blood because she tested positive for Lyme.  She doesn't want to do the surgery until Lady has finished her 30 days of medication.  After the 30 days, we will need to have blood drawn again to send out for another Titer to make sure the infection is not still active.

UPDATE – Nov. 25th – Dr. Jurk did the ERG and ocular ultrasound on Lady this morning.

Results:  ERG – appears within normal limits

Ocular ultrasound  - very mild vitreal degeneration, otherwise unremarkable, besides cataracts formation.

Lady is scheduled for her cataract surgery on Thursday, Dec. 1st.  It’s going to be a very Merry Christmas for Lady to be able to see again.

Dr. Jurk believes Lady has been blind for about 2 years.

Her surgery is going to cost around $3000, your donations, in any amount, will be appreciated to help us pay for Lady to get her eyesight back.

Lady came into Rescue, Saturday night, Nov. 19th from a home in Vermont.  Her owner realized that Lady was blind and could not afford to take her to the Vet.
We picked her up in Brattleboro and drove her to her foster home.
She is a 6 year old Cavalier King Charles mix.  She had not been vetted and we did the 4 DX test and the results are that she has Lyme Disease.  She is on an antibiotic for 30 days.
Yesterday, Nov. 21st, she was taken to Dr. Jurk, DVM, MSpVM, Dipi, ACVO at Sunderland Animal Hospital for an inital exam of her eyes.
The Cataract evaluation found that she has OU hypermature cataract of both eyes, suspected to be inherited, with underlying Progressive Retinal Atrophy.
We have scheduled an occular ultrasound for Friday morning, Nov. 25th, after that and ERG (electroetinogram) should be performed to see if Lady is a good candidate for cataract surgery.
We are hoping that she is a good candidate for the surgery because if not, she will end up losing both her eyes sometime in the future.
We are starting her on two different drops for her eyes daily, to prepare her eyes for surgery if she is a good candidate.

We are hoping that you will donate to Lady's medical care so we are able to get her the treatment she needs.

She is a very sweet and loving dog.
