August 27th - Cline was given the "A Okay" by our Vet and was adopted and went to his new home today.  He has a very strong bond with 4 year old Danny.  He's doing absolutely wonderful and is having the great life he deserves.

Thank you to everyone who sent your good wishes and donations to help with Clines medical care.

August 18, 4 pm - I just got Cline home. He's doing good, although he's in pain, but I have pain meds for him. i hated to put him through pain again.

His foot looks really good, but it's never going to look normal.

He has 2 little stitches where she pulled a little of the skin together after she clipped the bone, the pad underneath is somehow moved up a little now, so it should be more comfortable for him. I'll continue with the sugar on his foot and chin and the vitamin E on his chin. He stays on the antibiotics until his chin has healed . We go back in 2 weeks to have the stitches out and have it checked.

He's sleeping in his crate right now.

I'll get some pictures tomorrow.

August 18th -  Cline is going in today for surgery on his foot.  They are going to cut the bone away that is sticking out on his toe and pull the pad up over it to protect it.  I will give you an update later on.

This beautiful Manchester Terrier, who is approximately 1 year old, has injuries which include an open wound under his chin that will require a skin graft, a large gash on the top of his foot, he will lose a toe and has corneal ulcers in both eyes.  He will require costly veterinary care and a long-term commitment to restore his health, but when contacted by a local shelter, New Beginnings Dog Rescue could not turn him away.  Cline was found laying by a dumpster and it has not yet been determined whether he was hit by a car or his injuries were cruelly inflicted on him.  Today, Cline will be in the care of NBDR and will be further evaluated.  Please check in often to follow the road to recovery for our newest foster dog.

Update – August 2, 2 p.m.

Cline has now arrived at his NBDR foster home to begin a long and painful journey.  The doctor at the shelter removed part of his toe and his leg is bandaged.  He has a drain in his shoulder from an abscess and a bandage under his chin.  It was stated that his skin was slothing off yesterday and it does appear that someone had poured something "acid like" on him.  This boy is a tiny 9 pounds and through all of this, he is still very, very sweet.

New Beginnings Dog Rescue will continue to post updates to this site and also on our Facebook page.  Your kind thoughts for this boy are greatly needed.  We also would be deeply appreciative for any donations of any size to help us give this little sweetheart back the life and health he was meant to have.

Update – August 3, 1 p.m.

Cline was examined yesterday by NBDR’s veterinarian, Dr.Dorsie.  She removed the bandage from his leg and I have been rinsing it with warm water and putting sugar on it.  Sugar heals wounds, kills the bacteria and stimulates the blood’s vessels to heal quickly.  I haven't been able to see under his chin, he won't let me as the pain is still too great, but I am able to put the sugar on a cloth and lightly press it on.

Cline was given a new medicine that is supposed to heal the ulcers in a few days’ time, but I still have to continue with the antibiotics in his eyes.  I don't know how much he can see; he keeps bumping into things when he's walking around.

In the area where Cline’s toe or partial toe was removed, the bone is sticking out and that will need to be removed when he's more healed.

I haven't been able to get him to eat yet which worries me, but I'm sure it's because of all he's been through

Cline seems to be doing okay, however he whimpers a lot.  He has a pain patch on, plus he gets metacam in the morning.

New Beginnings Dog Rescue is overwhelmed by the caring and concerned friends who have stood beside us to help tiny Cline on his long road to recovery.  Your kind thoughts and generous donations have warmed our hearts and made us feel less alone while we try to get this sweet boy healed in body and spirit.  Thank you all so very much for your support.

Update – August 4

The early morning message from Cline’s foster mom today was, “I can't even tell you how much better I know he feels today!  Last night he ate and he's been walking around a lot this morning already, not even limping on his foot anymore.  I can tell he feels so much better; he's stuck to me like glue!”

Cline had an 8:45 a.m. appointment and here are his current evaluations:

Dr. Dorsie couldn't believe how well Cline is doing, after just 2 days.  She removed all his stitches under his chin that were holding the bandage on.  We will continue to apply the sugar to his chin and foot.

His chin should close up eventually and heal on it’s own.

She removed the drain from his shoulder.

His skin has died back a little more on his foot and the bone is sticking out further.  Cline’s foot is going to need more surgeries.  Once it's done healing, Dr. Dorsie will cut the bone back.

In the future, he will need to have the skin pulled together to close up the wound on his foot and that will allow it to close up and heal.

He doesn't seem to be in much pain from his eyes anymore as the ulcers are healing.

We have another Vet appointment on Monday morning.

“He ate a good breakfast this morning and is sleeping in his crate now.  When he's up, he's with me everywhere I go around here.”

NBDR again thanks everyone for helping us to bring Cline down the Road to Recovery.  We are still overwhelmed by your

support and good wishes – thank you so much.

Update – August 6

Cline continues to slowly show improvement.  He ate great this morning, had two bowls of food.  He's on Blue Buffalo canned and seems to really like it, today it was Lamb.

His spirits are also showing signs of improvement.  Today he's happy and wagging his tail and even tried to play with one of the dogs here.  I wouldn't let him because I didn't want him to hurt himself or cause further injury to his wounds.

His appetite is returning and tonight and he had a hefty bowl of food for supper.

His wounds are still heart breaking to look at, but he looks so peaceful having his nap today.

Having a nap, you can see the damage under his chin, click pic to enlarge.

Took a picture of his foot this morning. The skin has died back some more around the bone and that white thing sticking out is the bone, it's going to need to be cut back because it's just going to dry up, but look at how much it has healed, just using the Vit E and sugar on it.
It's amazing.

August 8 - Cline had a great Vet visit today. His foot, chin and eyes are healing nicely. Back next Monday for another check up.  He has even gained 8 oz.

August 10th -  Cline is feeling better after a few days of not doing anything but sleeping.  He continues to eat well and is starting to play with the other dogs.  He is just the sweetest dog.
He was laying with the  resident dog Becky this morning below is a picture of them.
